Hydrostatic Testing
Next, the vessels are subjected to hydrostatic testing. ASME vessels
are tested at one and a half times the maximum allowable working
pressure. DOT vessels receive a closed water jacket "burette"
test at 5/3 times the design pressure to measure their elastic and
inelastic behavior.
